Dino Clavica (born May 17, 1976, in Rome – December 5, 2019, in Bari) was an artist. Originally from Francavilla Fontana (Br), he moved to Bari in the 1990s to pursue his university studies. Ingenious in his ability to create works using only his inseparable iPhone and his index finger, he employed a complex technique with meticulous precision, aligning himself with the “finger painting” movement. In 2016, together with Mario Brambilla, he created the exhibition L’omino nero, and in 2017 La regola e il caso.

For the first time in his artistic production, one hand drew while the other told its story. Left Hand is the final series of works that Dino was able to dedicate himself to. Thirty works and videos were part of the exhibition held at Spazio Murat in Bari from October 7 to 23, 2021, produced by the Veluvre association, of which he was the president and a founding member.

Spazio Murat is one of the most appreciated cultural venues in the city of Bari, dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of contemporary arts. It is located in Bari, in Piazza Ferrarese, a point of connection between the old town and the modern district. Spazio Murat has a rich program of events, with a particular focus on visual arts and design. It hosts exhibitions, meetings, workshops, and the concept store Puglia Design Store, where Dino Clavica’s works were displayed for a long time.

“Era la parte meno forte, inutile,
invisibile del mio corpo.
Fino a quel giorno.
Quando il buio mi costrinse
a liberare lo sguardo e a vedere.
Esperienze che avevo dimenticato
o, forse, mai conosciuto.
La mano sinistra me le aveva custodite
per tutto il tempo.
Per poi restituirle, schiudendo finalmente le dita.
Accostamenti inconsueti e sorprendenti sproporzioni
svelano, nella dimensione irreale, la verità”.
